Help Represent the Mission at Pet Events Across Kansas City

KC Pet Search & Rescue is preparing to exhibit at adoption events, pet festivals, community fairs, preparedness events, rescue fundraisers, and other gatherings throughout the Kansas City metro.

Our booth will introduce families to professional lost-pet recovery, show real recovery videos, demonstrate specialized equipment, promote lost-pet preparedness, and connect people with resources they may someday need.

We are building a dependable Community Event Crew to help Jay and Richard bring that experience to more events — and eventually operate at two events on the same day.

Is your pet missing right now? This is not an emergency form. Call 913-915-2800 or start with emergency lost dog help or emergency lost cat help.

Real Kansas City recoveries are what the booth exists to explain — and what visitors remember.

More Than a Table and a Stack of Flyers

The KC Pet Search & Rescue booth should be an experience.

Visitors may see real thermal search footage, learn how cellular cameras and humane trapping support recoveries, explore the Lost Pet Command Center, and discover how professional recovery planning differs from simply posting online and hoping for the best.

Our Community Event Crew helps make that possible.

You do not need previous pet-recovery experience. You need to be dependable, welcoming, willing to learn, and comfortable helping people understand the KC Pet Search & Rescue mission.

Some of the equipment visitors may see demonstrated at the booth. What we bring depends on the event, space, and weather.

What the KCPSR Booth May Include

The booth experience may change depending on the event, space, weather, and available equipment.

  • Real lost-pet recovery videos
  • Thermal drone search footage
  • Thermal-camera demonstrations
  • Cellular trail-camera demonstrations
  • Humane cat-trapping equipment

What Event Crew Members Do

Community Event Crew members may help with any of the following, depending on the event and the assignment.

  • Booth setup and teardown
  • Welcoming visitors
  • Starting conversations
  • Playing and managing recovery videos
  • Handing out approved materials
  • Directing visitors to QR codes and online resources
  • Helping people join the KCPSR Community
  • Explaining the basic KC Pet Search & Rescue mission
  • Supporting demonstrations led by approved personnel
  • Organizing booth materials
  • Taking approved event photos and videos
  • Recording visitor questions and service inquiries
  • Helping maintain a clean, organized, professional booth
  • Giving Jay, Richard, and other team members time for breaks
  • Completing a brief post-event summary

New members will not be expected to know everything. Training, talking points, and clear event assignments will be provided.

You Will Never Be Expected to Handle a Recovery Alone

Community Event Crew members are not emergency responders or pet-recovery specialists.

Event Crew membership does not authorize someone to

  • Quote or negotiate service prices
  • Promise that KC Pet Search & Rescue can locate a pet
  • Create recovery plans for families
  • Enter private property
  • Operate a drone
  • Handle traps or animals without specific approval
  • Access private case information
  • Represent themselves as KCPSR field personnel
  • Speak publicly on behalf of KCPSR outside an approved assignment

If someone at an event needs immediate help with a missing pet, an Event Crew member should connect that person directly with Jay, Richard, or the appropriate KCPSR intake resource.

What We Are Looking For

The strongest Event Crew members

  • Dependable and punctual
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Comfortable speaking with the public
  • Compassionate toward distressed pet owners
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Respectful of privacy
  • Professional in appearance and conduct
  • Willing to learn the KCPSR message
  • Able to work as part of a coordinated team
  • Honest about their availability and abilities

Some event assignments may involve standing, lifting light booth materials, working outdoors, or remaining at an event for several hours. Members can indicate any limitations before accepting an assignment.

What KC Pet Search & Rescue Provides

Approved Event Crew members receive

  • Event details and schedules
  • A defined event assignment
  • Booth setup and closing checklists
  • Approved talking points
  • Lost-pet recovery resource guides
  • Instructions for handling service inquiries
  • Community standards and privacy expectations
  • Basic orientation before their first event
  • On-site direction from Jay, Richard, or a Community Event Leader
  • Branded identification or apparel when available
  • Opportunities to develop into event leadership

No one should arrive wondering what they are supposed to do.

A Path to Community Event Leadership

KC Pet Search & Rescue will eventually need trusted leaders who can help coordinate events and supervise Community Event Crew members.

1

Event Crew Member

Learns the booth, supports assigned positions, and works alongside Jay, Richard, or an Event Leader.

2

Senior Event Crew Member

Understands the complete booth process, helps newer members, and can manage defined parts of an event.

3

KCPSR Community Event Leader

Helps coordinate volunteers, directs booth setup, assigns positions, communicates with event organizers, maintains materials, and keeps the event operating professionally.

Event Leader is an earned or invitation-based position. It is not automatically assigned through the signup form.

Future Community Event Leaders will make it possible for Jay and Richard to split between two simultaneous events, with a dependable leader and two or three Community Event Crew members supporting each location.

Our First Events Will Be Built Together

During the first stage of the program, Jay and Richard will attend events together with approximately two or three Community Event Crew members. These initial events will help us:

  • Develop the best booth layout
  • Test visitor flow
  • Improve demonstrations
  • Refine talking points
  • Learn which materials visitors use
  • Train future Event Leaders
  • Build a reliable event system
  • Create photos and videos for future recruitment

Early Event Crew members will help shape how the entire program operates.

Event Crew Interest Form

Join the Founding Community Event Crew

You do not need to be a pet-recovery expert to make a meaningful contribution.

If you are dependable, enjoy meeting people, believe in the KC Pet Search & Rescue mission, and want to help bring professional lost-pet resources to communities across Kansas City, we want to hear from you.

Early Event Crew members will help establish the program, work the first events, and be considered for future leadership positions.

A missing pet can happen to any family.

By helping KC Pet Search & Rescue appear at adoption events, festivals, community functions, and pet-related gatherings, Community Event Crew members help more families discover professional recovery resources before an emergency happens.

One booth can reach hundreds of people. A coordinated Event Crew can help us reach communities across the entire Kansas City metro.
