Humane cat capture service
Indoor cat trapping uses strategically placed, baited humane traps to safely contain cats inside a home or other building when ordinary handling is not practical.
A cat may be frightened, unfamiliar with people, hiding in a difficult-to-reach space, or defensive when approached. In other situations, cats need to be captured so they can receive care, leave an unsuitable environment, or move to an arranged home, rescue, or shelter.
Repeated chasing or attempts to grab a frightened cat can make the situation more difficult. A planned trapping approach gives us a way to work toward capture while limiting unnecessary stress and handling.

Is your indoor cat lost outside? This page covers capturing a cat that is inside a home or building. If an indoor cat has escaped outdoors, our lost cat search and recovery service and outdoor humane cat trapping are built for that search instead.
Professional cat trapping service
We do more than place a trap and leave you to figure out the rest. Our indoor trapping service combines consultation, equipment setup, monitoring of baited locations, and continued advisement as the situation develops.
Before trapping begins, we explain how alerts work, who will respond after capture, and how the cat will move to the next arranged location.

Step 1
We discuss the cats, the property, known hiding areas, access limitations, and your plans after capture. This helps us determine an appropriate setup for the situation.
Step 2
We set up humane traps and monitoring equipment at selected locations based on the layout of the property and where the cats are active.
Step 3
Monitoring helps us see activity around the baited locations and adjust the approach as needed. You also receive live alerts from the monitoring setup so you can stay informed about activity and trapping progress.
Live alerts depend on the monitoring equipment, available connectivity, and notification settings.
Step 4
We continue providing guidance during the trapping process, including adjustments to placement or baiting and instructions for what to do when a cat is contained.
Cat trapping for rescue or shelter placement
Successful capture is only part of the process. Before trapping begins, you need an appropriate plan for each cat’s care and destination.
Depending on the situation, this may mean confirmed acceptance from a shelter or rescue, an arranged veterinary visit, a suitable home, or another secure arrangement that supports the cat’s well-being.
If you intend to take a cat to a shelter or rescue, confirm that the organization has agreed to accept the cat and understand its intake requirements before scheduling capture. You arrange acceptance and ongoing care; KC Pet Search & Rescue is not a shelter and cannot guarantee placement.

Our large traps may be used for transport as part of the coordinated plan. We will explain safe handling and equipment return arrangements.
Cat trapping in cluttered homes
We understand that some indoor rescues take place in homes with accumulated debris, animal waste, heavy soiling, or other conditions that make access and work more difficult. Our focus is helping you and the cats move forward with a practical plan.
These environments may require additional protective equipment, supplies, and precautions for safe work and equipment handling.
Photos of the work areas can help us prepare the appropriate equipment and explain what to expect.
Additional per-job fee
Additional $200 Per JobOnce per job · not per cat or per trap
When the property’s conditions require these additional precautions, a $200 fee applies for protective supplies and the added environmental requirements. Please describe the conditions during your consultation so we can discuss the fee before work begins.
In the pricing tile below, this is the “Complex Operating Conditions” option.
Access and working conditions must allow the service to be performed safely. We will discuss any limitations during the consultation.
Catching a frightened cat indoors
Every property and every cat presents a different challenge. Whether a cat is hiding in a ceiling space, inside a wall cavity, in a basement, among stored belongings or debris, or is too frightened or defensive to handle, we work with you to assess the situation and adapt the capture plan.
Our goal is to help both you and the cat move toward safer, more manageable conditions.
Some spaces require safe access to be arranged before trapping can proceed. We will explain what is needed during the consultation. Opening walls or ceilings, construction, sedation, and veterinary care are not part of this service.
