This Agreement is entered into voluntarily by the undersigned client (“Client”) and KC Pet Search & Rescue (“JOCO”) for the purpose of providing limited-scope emergency recovery assistance for a missing domestic cat.
The Emergency Cat Rescue Service is designed primarily for indoor-only cats that have recently escaped and are believed to still be within the surrounding area.
The service focuses on establishing a professionally deployed trapping and monitoring system that allows the cat to return safely while minimizing disturbance to the area.
This service may be deployed at any time of day or night depending on availability.
The Client affirms that they are:
• the legal owner of the missing cat
OR
• authorized by the legal owner to request recovery services.
The Client voluntarily requests assistance from JOCO and acknowledges that the services provided are limited in scope and cannot guarantee recovery.
The Emergency Cat Rescue Service provides a professionally staged humane trapping system designed to safely recover a displaced or missing cat.
The service includes:
• deployment of a professional-grade humane live trap
• strategic trap placement performed personally by JOCO
• installation of a motion-activated monitoring camera
• shared monitoring access allowing both JOCO and the Client to receive motion alerts
• provision of an Owner Assisted Trapping Kit
• professional baiting strategy recommendations
• instructions for rebaiting and maintaining the trap
• instructions for safely releasing non-target animals or pets
This system allows traps to be monitored without repeatedly disturbing the area, which is critical for frightened or displaced cats.
Trap placement is determined based on:
• last known sighting location
• property layout and terrain
• likely concealment locations
• behavioral patterns common to displaced indoor cats
• environmental shelter areas such as decks, crawlspaces, sheds, vegetation, and drainage structures
Proper trap placement is a critical factor in trapping success and is determined at the time of deployment.
Each trap deployment includes a motion detection camera system positioned to monitor the trap and surrounding area.
The monitoring system may:
• send motion alerts to both JOCO and the Client
• capture images of activity around the trap
• identify when the missing cat returns to the area
Monitoring helps prevent unnecessary disturbance and allows traps to remain active while minimizing human interference.
The Client will be provided with a trapping support kit containing the tools needed to maintain the trap during the monitoring period.
The kit may include:
• professional bait supplies
• bait placement containers
• rebaiting instructions
• trap handling guidance
• instructions for safely releasing non-target animals
• basic trap maintenance guidance
The Client may be responsible for rebaiting the trap as instructed during the monitoring period.
The Emergency Cat Rescue Service includes a monitoring period of up to six (6) consecutive days.
The monitoring period is calculated from the last confirmed sighting of the missing cat captured by the monitoring camera.
If the camera captures confirmed footage of the missing cat at the trap location, the six (6) day monitoring period resets beginning on the date of the confirmed detection.
This monitoring structure is designed to establish return patterns and avoid premature removal of equipment.
If the Client wishes to continue trapping beyond the initial monitoring period, the service may be extended.
Extension Fee:
$130 for each additional five (5) day extension period.
Extensions apply regardless of whether sightings occur during the extension period.
The Client acknowledges that cats commonly utilize concealment-based survival behavior and may hide in locations including:
• crawlspaces
• drainage systems
• garages or sheds
• wooded areas
• dense vegetation
• structural voids
• under decks
• other concealed locations
Cats may remain motionless for extended periods and often move primarily during nighttime hours.
The presence of a trap does not guarantee immediate or eventual capture.
The Client acknowledges that:
• cats may relocate during recovery efforts
• cats may enter inaccessible or hazardous areas
• cats may cross roadways or move outside the search area
• wildlife or other animals may enter traps
JOCO cannot guarantee location, containment, or recovery of any animal.
JOCO is not responsible for injury, loss, or death occurring before, during, or after recovery efforts.
The Client agrees to follow recommended guidance regarding:
• scent placement
• feeding patterns
• activity restrictions near trap locations
The Client is responsible for ensuring trap placement remains:
• legally authorized
• undisturbed
• safe
JOCO is not responsible for interference caused by neighbors, wildlife, weather, theft, vandalism, or third-party tampering.

In situations where a cat has recently escaped or a sighting has occurred, KC Pet Search & Rescue offers an Emergency Cat Rescue Service designed to locate and recover the cat as quickly as possible using thermal detection technology.
This service combines ground-based thermal detection, aerial thermal scanning, and trapping strategies to identify the location of the missing cat.
The objective of this service is to locate and recover the cat during the service visit whenever possible.
The Emergency Cat Rescue Service begins with a thermal ground sweep conducted on foot using a professional handheld thermal monocular.
This allows inspection of areas that are often difficult or impossible to observe from the air, including:
• under decks and porches
• beneath vehicles
• inside sheds or open structures
• along fence lines and vegetation
• drainage areas and crawlspaces
• dark concealment areas around the property
Because recently escaped indoor cats commonly hide close to the home, this ground-based thermal inspection helps identify heat signatures in areas where cats typically conceal themselves immediately after escaping.
After the ground thermal sweep is completed, JOCO will conduct an aerial thermal scan using an enterprise thermal drone.
The drone allows rapid scanning of the surrounding area including:
• nearby yards
• wooded areas
• open terrain
• drainage corridors
• rooftops and structures
• nearby concealment areas beyond the immediate property
The thermal drone detects heat signatures of living animals, which may include the missing cat.
During the aerial scan, the Client will be present and may assist in identifying the missing cat using the drone’s large 18-inch live display monitor.
This cooperative identification process helps distinguish the missing cat from other animals that may appear during the scan.
The purpose of the Emergency Cat Rescue Service is to locate the missing cat during the search and facilitate recovery on scene whenever possible.
However, due to the unpredictable nature of animal behavior, locating the cat does not guarantee immediate capture.
If the cat is located but cannot be safely recovered during the thermal search, trapping strategies may be recommended.
If the missing cat is not located during the thermal search, JOCO may deploy a professional humane cat trap as part of the recovery strategy.
Trap placement will follow the Owner Assisted Trapping system described in this agreement, including monitoring camera deployment and rebaiting instructions.
Trap deployment allows the cat to return safely after the search if it remains concealed in the surrounding area.
