At the Osawatomie Shelter: they welcome help with laundry (take a load home to wash and bring it back), dog walking, and landscaping such as mowing and trimming. Please coordinate with their team first through their contact page or volunteer page.
Donations go directly to Always & Furever through their own website. KCPSR does not collect donations on their behalf.
Please arrange your visit in advance.
Their Osawatomie shelter began as a simple, abandoned shed and was renovated to care for animals waiting for families. It cares for adoptable animals with help from sponsors, adopters and volunteers.
Always & Furever is a no-kill, no-kennel animal sanctuary and rescue with locations in Kansas and Missouri. Their approach centers on treating every animal with kindness and dignity, and on making shelter life feel more like a home than a row of cages.
They rescue dogs and cats and care for them until each one finds the right place to belong.
Barns, private suites and small “Lighthouse” homes, with care adjusted to each animal.
Families can adopt, foster, or try a foster-to-adopt arrangement.
Room for animals needing ongoing medical care, behavior help, or a long-term or hospice home.
Some of their addresses are not published. Visits are arranged with their team, for example through volunteering or an adoption or foster meet-and-greet.
Their current adoptable pets are listed on their adoption site. For current availability, adoption questions and meeting arrangements, contact Always & Furever directly, and confirm a pet’s location before traveling.
The Osawatomie Shelter is open 7 a.m.–7 p.m. by appointment, so please arrange your visit in advance through their contact page or by calling 800-247-9527. Their team sets up meet-and-greet appointments for people looking to adopt or foster, and some of their locations’ addresses are not published.
You can foster, volunteer (at Osawatomie that includes laundry, dog walking and landscaping, coordinated with their team), donate through their website, or share this page and their pets with friends.
